For this show, Quay artists bring personal individual works and small collections of ‘sketches’ using a variety of different mediums.  The works invite the viewer to explore this concept beyond the obvious - offering inspiration to the audience to evolve ideas, thoughts, feelings and emotions through the creative exploration of the ‘sketch’.  It is an important and integral component of the artistic journey and is often used as an emotional outlet in combination with words to convey message and meaning or purely to remember – a scene, a moment, a person, an idea.

With this exhibition, we seek to inspire and inform, to invite discussion and open internal dialogue.

The show will open on Thursday 14 March from 5-7pm with drinks and chats with a number of our artists, and will run until Thursday 28 March.  We hope you will join us to enjoy this eclectic and inspiring show.

Julian Hindson is an established, local, self-taught artist with a diverse array of painting styles - signature landscapes, hybrid digital/acrylic native birds and abstract works.

With this exhibition we present select limited edition digital works from Julians stunning 'Avian Royalty' series. Incredibly detailed digital prints on canvas, uniquely hand-embellished.

Ken's work is extraordinary. He can paint anything, in any style, beautifully.  This exibition of fine art paintings by this incredible New Zealand artist will be on throughout February.

Nick is the master of textured oils and these beautiful works will sit wonderfully in any home for years to come.

The works focus on interconnections, sometimes humour, sometimes darkness of mood and the play of the materials.  There are juxtapositions and mutuality, without a need for authorship or ownership.  Look for things that bring out some artistic language, bare and undisguised, sometimes awkward where continuing stories can be discovered and read. There are chances to be patient and reflective.
