Sally Maguire
ABOUT SALLY MAGUIRE
Sally Maguire has been a self-taught artist for around 30 years. She first began in chalk pastels, eventually teaching pastel art in Raumati for a few years – sharing techniques and fostering in others a love of and desire to develop their art.
Sally now works only in Oils on linen and canvas. Her works show her passion for animals, especially the country animals that she grew up with - her goats and cows, donkeys and chickens. Sally's works are stunning in their simplicity. Beautifully pared back and emotive, they have a nostalgic quality that seems to resonate profoundly with the audience. "Each animal, every life no matter what or who they may be has a beautiful soul and a wonderful story. I hope my works inspire a sense of curiosity into stories behind each scene I have the pleasure create." Sally owned Artmosphere Gallery in Waipawa for 11 years with her partner Photographer Helmut Hirler, before moving on in order to immerse herself in creating her art. She has been represented in galleries all around New Zealand with works in private international collections. We are pleased to welcome Sally back to Quay Gallery with her new body of works. We also offer Sally's wooden art blocks through the Gallery - seach for these under THE ART. |
