ABOUT KRISTIN HYDE
Originally growing up in Wellington, Kristin Hyde now lives on the outskirts of Auckland in the Bombay Hills where her creative space with a rural outlook is surrounded by trees, a stream and all sorts of bird life. It’s a sanctuary, from where she can draw much inspiration.
In early 2020, after having the holiday of a lifetime in The Bahamas with her oldest son on his yacht, Kristin decided to make the leap and left her career as an International Flight attendant, (a career which had spanned over 40 years) to follow her passion and become a Fulltime Artist. Although Covid has changed the world and the plans of many, Kristin has no regrets and is busier and happier now than ever before. "Painting and being creative makes me happy. I create to express my emotions and unlock untold stories that evoke memories. I paint to make others happy and to make them smile - to escape to another world if only for a little while. I create from my heart." Kristin uses a variety of materials and mediums in the creation of her art, most especially Acrylics or Gold/Silver leaf under a flawless resin finish - having been a resin artist for seven years. She also has a love of textiles and has also been felting for seven years when after taking a class on basic felting, she was completely hooked. "I have spent many hours developing my own style. I love taking fibres and creating an original piece of wearable art by tufting, wetting and rolling. I also enjoy eco-dying and printing." Taking nature’s bounty and producing beautiful patterns from leaves, flowers and other natural products is a large part of Kristins artistic journey. "To be able to work at your passion is a real privilege. I feel very humbled to know that my Jewellery, Textiles and Art have found homes worldwide." |
