This series is based on the five movements of Symphonie fantastique by Hector Berlioz.
Berlioz was a French romantic composer who lived from 1803 to 1869. Symphonie fantastique was composed as a result of his obsessive infatuation with Harriet Smithson, an Irish Shakespearean actress.
"Un Bal" is the title of the second movement, "A Ball," from Hector Berlioz's orchestral work, Symphonie fantastique. It is a waltz that depicts the protagonist at a formal 19th-century ball, where he sees his beloved and experiences the music's contrasts before regaining his composure.
