Artists Statement:
"I am a trained pharmacist. I have been painting, engraving and sculpting since I was 12. I have studied archeology, history, classical studies and history of arts. After attending glass casting. pate de verre, flame working and sand casting workshops in the USA, Europe, Australia and New Zealand I became a full time sculptor. I have studied figurative sculpture in Rome and at the Florence Art Academy in Florence, Italy."
His love of glass and his ability to orchestrate colour have been with him all his life. He remembers the joy of painting on glass as a child and the depth of colouration and transparency that glass gave him.
Nejat has had many solo and group shows throughout his career. He has been a finalist in the Molly Morpeth Canaday Art Awards and a finalist in the Australian Ranamok Glass Awards.
