ABOUT PAULINE MORSE
Pauline is a self -taught artist who has painted most of her life. After a career in the NZ wildlife Service, she began painting birds in the early 1980s after a trip to Fiji landed her with a commission to illustrate Birds of the Fiji Bush.
That lead to further commissions, notably a series of stamps for NZ Post featuring the well-known 40 cent kiwi and other birds, butterflies and tuatara. She also produced artwork for a series of cheque books for the BNZ featuring kiwi and duck stamps for NZ Fish and Game.
In 1992, Pauline was named Wildlife Artist of the Year. She has also authored a book of her paintings entitled Wild Natives. In recent years she has turned to painting landscapes
in oil and printmaking.
Quay Gallery has a number of Pauline's beautiful Limited Edition Etchings produced in the traditional way by drawing through the resin onto a copper plate and etching the image into it with acid. The plate is then finished by hand and passed through a printing press. Each print in the edition is thus a unique artwork printed on handmade acid free paper.
Pauline's etchings are charming and delightful.
