ABOUT DAVID KNIGHT
David Knight became interested in ceramics while living in Wellington. After moving to the Far North, he decided to explore the medium of clay in more depth. David graduated with a Bachelor of Applied Arts (Visual) degree from the Northland Polytechnic in 2014.
His work has seen him experimenting with the elements of form, texture and colour. The unfettered use of intense colour adds a bold language element to these forms. David finds inspiration in the tactile nature of the clay medium and the ability to adapt it into organic or structural forms. The bold colour palette that accompanies his work is achieved through experimental combinations of varying oxides and minerals and the reactive outcomes from exposure to intense heat. David's decorative bowls are solid, vibrant, unique and exceptional - not to mention, functional. There is an excellent combination in the use of colour, accented highlights, shape and form. |
