'LADIES IN WAITING'
This is the title of the painting of a 1930 Rolls Royce by Don Packwood.
Don Packwood has been painting on and off for the last 50 years but has been much more serious in the last 15 years. He believes that the balance, proportion, perspective and lighting are all equally of importance and give the final illusion of depth and volume to the composition of a painting.
Artist's Statement
'Why do I draw cars? I'm sure most artists go through a period agonising over what they need to say to the world. Someone years ago said to me, while I seemed to be experiencing a bout of painter's block - "Paint what you know and love". Cars have had a tremendous impact on our lives, as a means of transport, recreation or sport or simply a fascination for collecting. For the past 120 years or so we've had a love affair with the automobile.'
Although Don is a superb painter of cars, he is equally as good painting flowers as you will see in this exhibition.
